The Sculpture Park at Madhavendra Palace, Nahargarh Fort, Jaipur

Second Edition December 11, 2018 to September 1, 2020

Curated by Peter Nagy

The centerpiece of the Second Edition was a monumental installation created by the celebrated British artist Richard Long (born in 1945 in Bristol, UK, where he continues to be based). Using the local red sandstone quarried from the Aravalli Hills outside of Jaipur, Long created “River of Stones” using almost 900 hand-cut boulders. Snaking through the entire thirty-meter length of the courtyard, the simplicity of his sculpture belied its powerful transcendence. Subsequently, the work was exhibited at the Riksmuseum in Amsterdam as part of Long’s exhibition there in 2023. The majority of the works in the Second Edition were created specifically for the Sculpture Park, while both Bijoy Jain/Studio Mumbai and Achia Anzi occupied the two double-width corner apartments on the ground floor with large installations.
